Our Origin Story
Qualinnova was born from a simple question:
Why does quality healthcare remain out of reach for millions of Africans, despite so many programs, technologies, and investments?
Our founder, Dr. Adewale Akinjeji, spent over a decade and a half working across Africa and Asia, leading large-scale health programs with organizations like the UN and the Global Fund. From rural clinics in Nigeria to border communities in Southeast Asia, he saw the same story unfold fragmented systems, under-equipped frontline workers, and communities forced to rely on informal providers because formal systems had failed to reach them.
The experience revealed a hard truth: innovation wasn’t missing – integration was.
The tools to transform healthcare existed, but they were scattered across disconnected pilots, underfinanced businesses, and policies that rarely translated to practice. What was missing was a platform that could connect technology, financing, and frontline delivery into one sustainable ecosystem.
That realization gave birth to Qualinnova – short for Quality + Innovation.
Our mission is to bridge innovation and implementation by empowering frontline providers- community health workers, private drug shops, TBAs, and primary health centers- with the tools, financing, and partnerships they need to deliver essential health services and diagnostics to every household.
We draw inspiration from successful community-based models across Africa and beyond, but we go a step further – combining digital platforms, supply-chain innovation, and impact financing to make health access both affordable and sustainable.
Qualinnova isn’t just a company – it’s a movement of doers, dreamers, and data-driven innovators working to prove that quality healthcare in Africa can be both impactful and investable.
